DENY RESPONSIBILITY

Responding to a traffic ticket (civil infractions):

All civil infraction citations are due within 14 days of the date on the citation. If you fail to pay or fail to request a court appearance within 14 days, you will be subject to late fees and possible suspension of your license.

Before you come to Court to pay the ticket:

It normally takes 24-48 hours from the time you received the ticket before the court has received a record of the ticket from the police department. Please wait at least 24 hours before coming to court to pay. If you are coming in person to pay during regular business hours, please bring your copy of the ticket with you.

If you would like to deny responsibility:

You may deny responsibility of the ticket by turning your ticket over and checking “Deny Responsibility” and signing your name. Please include your phone number and address where the Court may contact you.

After the court receives your ticket, an informal hearing will be set in front of the Attorney Magistrate approximately 3 weeks from the date the court receives the ticket. You will be required to appear in person on the date set for informal hearing. You will also need to bring any witnesses or evidence you may need to prove your case.

If you have an attorney or wish to request a formal hearing in front of the Judge you may do so by indicating that on the back of your ticket.
